Meet Coach Lehnert:
Stephanie Lehnert has been the Head Coach of the Girls varsity tennis team at De Pere High School for 3 years. She is also a 1996 alumni of De Pere High School and the De Pere Girls Tennis Team.
Stephanie started playing tennis at the age of 8, with her father, Glenn Lehnert, the former head coach of the girls tennis team. He would take her and her sister out to learn the strokes of the game, and then decided to get the girls lessons. She started playing competitive tennis on the De Pere High School tennis team in 1992-1996. Stephanie primarily played doubles for the team, and qualified for the WIAA Division 2 State Tournament both in 1994 and 1995. In 1995, with her doubles partner Ingrid Alberts, Stephanie placed 5th in doubles at the WIAA Division 2 State Tournament, the first Girls doubles team at De Pere to medal at the state tournament in Tennis.
During college, Stephanie played intramural tennis, assisted with a tennis summer school class, as well as coached a middle school tennis team in her student teaching. In her first teaching position in Port Washington, Stephanie was the JV coach of the Girls High School Tennis Team. She then moved home to De Pere to live and work, and took the Head Coaching Position in 2007.
Coach Lehnert attended University of Eau Claire for her undergraduate studies in Education and Spanish teaching. She recently completed her master’s work in Natural Resources-Environmental Education at the University of Wisconsin of Stevens Point. Currently, Coach Lehnert teaches 5th grade at Foxview Intermediate School. She enjoys spending time with her family, her dogs, and being outdoors.
